How much does it cost to start?
The initial investment for a coffee truck franchise with The Rush Coffee is $22,000 for the initial franchise fee, plus the cost of your mobile truck. The truck cost depends on many factors, such as if you purchase a new or used vehicle, buy one we already have ready or choose to have your own built with our plans and guidance. We recommend budgeting up to $180,000 for a new mobile vehicle. Other expenses include starting inventory, advertising, permiting and licensing, etc. All fees are outlined in our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) which we can share with you after an initial interest call.
How much can I make?
That depends on a number of factors – most of which come down to how hard you’re willing to work. We cannot guarantee sales for any franchisee, but your sales are directly related to the time and energy you put in. Monthly franchise fees are intended to be no more than 5% of gross sales of $15,000 each month. Actual franchisee sales vary.
What do franchise fee and monthly royalties get me?
The farm! You get our entire success package – our guidance on selecting the right mobile truck, assistance with county and city permiting and licensing, complete training, our entire Operations Manual, and 24/7 support. You will also receive regular updates to the menu, recipes, and continued brand development.
What training do you provide?
Initial training includes at least 2 weeks of on-site training with us on our coffee trucks. When it’s time, we will travel to work with you or support you at your grand opening. Beyond initial training, we’re available 24/7 for questions, guidance and help via phone and email. When you struggle, we help you and when you’re successful, we celebrate with you. Becoming a franchisee with The Rush Coffee is about becoming part of our family. We are commited to your success and won’t leave you hanging out to dry.
What does a territory look like?
When you sign on with The Rush Coffee, you’ll be granted a territory of 30 mile radius from your business address OR a population of 250,000, whichever is smaller. You’re welcome to work outside your territory as long as there are no other Rush Coffee franchisees who own that area. Having other franchisees around you isn’t a bad thing, though, as we tend to share events with each other. Remember you’re part of a family – not just with us but also with your other local franchisee owners.
Why not open my own coffee truck?
You can and a lot of people do – we did. When we started our coffee truck in 2017 we had no idea what it was going to take to be successful and we made a lot of mistakes along the way. We’re still learning how to do it better. Becoming a franchisee with The Rush Coffee gives you a fast-track to success – you can avoid those first 5 years of trial and error and jump right in to a model that works. Rather than being alone in your decision-making, you would be part of a network of other franchisees who have ideas and are willing to share them with you because you’re family, not competition. Being a successful coffee truck is about more than just knowing how to make delicious coffee. We’ve seen many other coffee trucks come and go because they didn’t have the skills and know-how to be successful.
What are you looking for in a new franchisee?
Franchisees of The Rush Coffee need to be hard workers with a can-do spirit and a desire and ability to be actively involved in the business. If you’re hoping to put a full-time manager in place and to earn a passive income, The Rush Coffee franchise is likely not for you. After a few years you may be able to step back while employees run some pieces, but you will need to always be actively involved if you want to remain successful. Our model is unusual in the world of coffee, but it’s scalable for the right person with a long-term vision.
What’s the process to open my franchise?
Once you’ve had a chance to look through all of the information we have online:
- Submit your interest form here. A representative from The Rush Coffee will reach out to you to schedule a call.
- After the initial call, we will email you an application to complete. This application helps us gather information about your interest, your history, your skills and your finances. We use this to determine if our franchise is a good fit.
- We will then send you a copy of our current Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) to review. This contains all of the terms of the agreement you would be signing with us. It’s long and tedious, but it’s critical that you review it carefully and ask all questions you have before signing.
- When your application is received and approved, you will be scheduled to ride along on the coffee truck with our owners. This is the final stage of the process and gives you an opportunity to feel what it’s like to work inside a coffee truck.
- After these steps are completed and you’ve made a decision on your truck, you will be cleared to sign the necessary paperwork, pay your franchise fee and schedule training.
What happens after I sign?
Once you’ve signed and paid the franchise fee, we build an opening schedule with you that includes training, truck build or delivery, health permit preparation and estimated opening date. The length of this process depends on many factors, including whether you’ve selected a truck that’s already built or have decided to have your own built and your availability to travel for the initial 2-week training. Average estimate is 3 months to open, but it can be sooner or longer depending on your specific situation.
